Recaulking

Removal and replacement of the grout / caulking in all changes of plane or material.

Service Description

Not keeping up with the caulking in your shower, is like ignoring an oil change for your car. Caulking is needed anywhere there is a change of plane, or in material. Silicone will withstand movement in these areas, where grout will usually crack and fall out. Grout is also not waterproof, like silicone; so it cannot keep water from penetrating behind sinks/tubs. You also have the most amount of water pooling In the perimeter of the shower pan, which saturates the grout, and gets trapped behind compromised caulking lines; allowing mold to build up quickly. Many other "grout specialists" will use grout in these areas because they are lazy or dont know better. Others may use a "grout caulking" that is siliconized acrylic. you may have been told it looks better, only because it is much easier to install, but is NOT rated for constant water exposure. Showers need 100% silicone, otherwise you will be replacing it annually; and 100% silicone is very tricky to get right! Through years of trial and error, I have perfected my method of caulking, to provide you the best quality results possible. I may charge slightly more than the next guy, but i spend a lot of time getting it perfect; I will not just swipe my finger and hope for the best. I also make sure there is no moisture trapped in the edges of your shower pan before recaulking, and occasionally this means I need to come back a week after removing the caulking, to ensure everything is dry and done properly. If you have grout in these areas, thats why it always looks wet/dark!

How To Get An Estimate

Prices depend on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to; Size of the tile, grout, and caulking lines, as well as the age and condition of each. The type of tile, or grout you have, can also have an impact on the price. To get an accurate assessment of your project, please send me pictures of all the areas you need worked on. It is best if I can see 100% of the tile with some far away shots, as well as a few close ups of the grout, to determine its condition. From there, I can offer you a few options, and can suggest the best course of action for you. If it is a large floor or other area, feel free to take a video to substitute the far away shots, and add in a few close up pictures separate from the video.
